Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

1. Who we are

True Tone (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered personal colour analysis service operating at truetoneanalysis.com, based in Queensland, Australia. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

For privacy enquiries, contact us at info@truetoneanalysis.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the service:

  • Photos. When you upload a selfie, we send it to our AI provider for analysis. Photos are processed in transit and are not stored permanently on our servers after analysis is complete.
  • Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and store your colour analysis results (your colour profile key and associated data) linked to your account so you can access them across devices.
  • Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details — Stripe handles all payment data securely. We receive confirmation that a payment was made and your subscription status.
  • Usage data. We may collect anonymised usage data (pages visited, features used) to improve the service. This data is not linked to your identity.

3. How we use your information

  • To deliver your colour analysis results
  • To save and restore your results when you sign in across devices
  • To manage your subscription and send receipts
  • To respond to support or privacy enquiries
  • To improve the accuracy and performance of our service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your photos to train AI models.

4. Third-party services

We use the following trusted third-party providers to operate the service:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management. Stores your email address and account data. See Clerk's privacy policy at clerk.com/legal/privacy.
  • Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing. Handles all card data under PCI-DSS compliance. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
  • OpenAI — AI analysis of your photo to determine your colour profile. Photos are sent securely and are subject to OpenAI's data usage policies at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
  • Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure. See Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

5. Data retention

Your colour profile results are stored in your account for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your stored results are removed. Payment records are retained as required by Australian tax law. Anonymised usage data may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of any direct marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@truetoneanalysis.com and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Some third-party services (Clerk, Stripe) may set their own cookies as part of their functionality.

8. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. However, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

For any privacy-related questions or complaints, contact us at info@truetoneanalysis.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
